Residential vs. Datacenter Proxies: When to Use Which to Avoid Checkpoints?

Hello everyone,

While supporting the community, I've noticed an extremely common mistake that many newcomers in the MMO space make: Pouring money into high-end tools and powerful PC builds, only to choose the wrong Proxies.

Using the wrong type of proxy is the "shortest path" to mass Checkpoints (verification blocks). To keep your account fleet alive and healthy, you must understand the true nature of the two most popular proxy types today: Datacenter and Residential.

1. Datacenter Proxies: Fast, Cheap, but Easily Flagged

Datacenter Proxies are IP addresses provided by secondary corporations, Data Centers, or cloud hosting services (like AWS, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean, etc.).

  • Pros: The biggest advantage here is incredibly fast connection speeds, stable bandwidth, and very low prices. Buying in bulk is never an issue.
  • Cons: These are static IPs that are easily recognized by the AI systems of Facebook, TikTok, and Google as "industrial" IPs. Their Trust score is remarkably low.

=> When to use them?
You should only use Datacenter Proxies for tasks that require high speed but zero trust, such as: botting views, web scraping (bulk spamming), or farming disposable "trash" accounts that you don't mind losing.

2. Residential Proxies: The "Holy Grail" for High-Trust Accounts

Residential Proxies are IPs originating directly from physical household devices (provided by standard Internet Service Providers like Comcast, AT&T, Viettel...) or from 4G/5G mobile connections.

These are the most trusted IPs available because, to social media algorithms, they represent genuine human users browsing from their living rooms.

However, within Residential Proxies, you need to distinguish between two subtypes to optimize costs:

  • Static Residential: IPs fixed to a specific household network that do not change. They are perfectly suited for nurturing main accounts, Ad accounts, or Business Managers (BM) because they maintain a consistent login habit.
  • Rotating Residential: IPs that automatically change after a set period or after every request. This type is excellent for mass account registration or running auto-seeding tasks without the fear of IP blocks.

3. The Survival Skill: Checking for IP Leaks

Understanding proxies isn't enough; the final step that determines whether your accounts survive lies in how you implement them. Many users complain about getting banned despite using expensive residential proxies. The culprit is almost always a WebRTC Leak.

Before assigning a proxy to a profile and running it, you must check for IP Leaks (real IP leakage). If your browser or automation tool lacks the mechanism to block or thoroughly handle WebRTC leaks, the system can bypass your proxy and extract the real IP straight from your local device.

The result? No matter how premium your residential proxy is, the platform's filter will still see your real IP. If that real IP is tainted, your entire new batch of accounts will be wiped out instantly.

Conclusion: Be flexible! Don't waste expensive residential proxies on spam tasks, and don't use cheap datacenter proxies to farm Ad accounts. Choosing the right proxy and strictly controlling WebRTC is the key to sleeping peacefully at night.
